Miss Nepal is WWF Young Conservation Ambassador
Miss Nepal 2012 Shristhi Shrestha has been appointed as Young Conservation Ambassador of World Wild Fund (WWF).
She is 7th Conservation Ambassador. She replaced former Miss Nepal Malina Joshi.
WWF Nepal started appointing the Miss Nepal pageant winners as the Young Conservation Ambassador from 2004.

Objective: Promoting plantation of native species in Delhi as they are more favorable to local
environment
WWF to extend the reach of the campaign reach to other states from this year
WWF provides tree saplings free of cost, with only one commitment –' to nurture the sapling into a
tree'
About 3,000 saplings adopted in the year 2010
Database of the saplings distributed maintained and periodical follow-ups done in order to
keep the track of the Trees and ensure that the sapling is well nurtured
The Earth Hour being observed on Last Saturday of March (i.e. March 31, 2012) across the
globe.
Objective: To create awareness about climate change and to encourage support for
environmentally sustainable action.
The worldwide initiative by World Wildlife Fund promotes people throughout the world to switch off lights today for
an hour beginning at 8.30 pm in each time zone.The Earth Hour movement started in Sydney in 2007 has grown in
later years. As per the Earth’s Hour website, a record 147 nations and territories are preparing to take part in the
event.
