Bhupathi, Bopanna clinch ATP World Tour Masters 1000

The duo of Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna lifted their first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title by vanquishing Pakistan’s Aisam- Ul- Haq Qureshi and Netherlands’ Jean- Julien Rojer in the final of the BNP Paribas Masters.

Roger Federer clinches Wimbledon Open Title 2012
Swiss Tennis star Roger Federer defeated British player Andy Murray to win the Wimbledon Open
Championship 2012 in London on. With this win Federer reclaimed the world No. 1 rank breaking
Pete Sampras’ record of 286 weeks at the pinnacle of the game.
 If we include this title then Federer now keeps 17 Grand Slam.
 He had clinched earlier Wimbledon titles on 6 different occasions.
 William Renshaw’s and Pete Sampras are the only players who have won the prestigious Wimbledon singles title on 7 occasions.

Serena Williams of US conquered Ladies’ singles title by beating Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.

Jonathan Marray and Frederick Nielson won Men’s doubles by defeating Robert Lindstedt.
 The pair of Serena Williams and Venus Williams won Ladies’ doubles title as they defeated Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka.

French Open: Sania, Bhupathi clinch maiden mixed doubles title
Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi won their 2nd Grand Slam title together and first French Open trophy. They defeated the Mexican-Polish duo of Santiago Gonzalez and Klaudia Jans Ignacik in the mixed doubles final held in in Paris. Earlier, Sania and Bhupathi had won the 2009 Australia Open as their first Grand Slam title. Individually, it is 2nd career Grand Slam title for Sania and 12th major trophy for Bhupati. Bhupati has 8 mixed doubles trophies.



Miami Open Tennis tournament: Results (50th Doubles Title for Paes)
Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska wins Women’s Singles title.In the finals, she defeated Russia’s Maria Sharapova.
Russian pair Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova wins Women’s Doubles title
Meanwhile, the Russian pair of Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova won the Women’s Doubles title. They defeated the Italian duo of Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci.  India’s Leander Paes, Czech Radek Stepanek win doubles at the Men’s Doubles title in the Miami Open Tennis tournament at Florida. In the title clash, they defeated the Belarusian-Canadian combine of Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor.
Indo-Czech duo of Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek had won the Australian Open earlier this year. Paes became the 24th player in ATP World Tour history to win 50 doubles titles. Serbian Novak Djokovic wins Men’s Singles title Serbia’s World Number One Novak Djokovic won the Men’s Singles title. In the finals he defeated fourth seeded Briton Andy Murray.

The All India Tennis Association (AITA) extended the ban on Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna from the national team till 30 June 2014. Bhupathi and Bopanna had objected to partnering with Leander Paes at the London Olympics, following which AITA had sent two doubles team - one of Bhupathi and Bopanna, and the other of Paes and Vishnu Vardhan to the Olympics.The AITA stated that it would stick to the young Indian side for the Asia-Oceania Group-I Davis Cup and will not include Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna in the squad until the country moves up from the Asia-Oceania Group.

Bhupati and Bopanna win Doubles in ATP Dubai
At the ATP Dubai Open, Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna, the Indian Pair won their maiden title together. In the Finals of the Doubles event they defeated the Poland’s pair of Mariusz Fyrstenberg
and Marcin Matkowski.

World Number One Victoria Azarenka of Belarus has won the Women’s Singles title in the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament at the Indian Wells in California. She defeated Russia’s Maria Sharapova 6-2, 6-3. Top-seeded Americans Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond kept up their incredible run, winning their fourth straight title and 16th straight match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over No. 2 seeds

March 20, 2012 Roger Federer wins men’s singles title at the BNP Paribas Open Tennis
tournament, California. Switzerland’s Roger Federer won the Men’s Singles title in the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament at the Indian Wells in California. Third seed Roger Federer defeated John Isner of the United States in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3. Roger Federer became the first player to bag the BNP Paribas Open for the fourth time. Federer, thus equaled Rafael Nadal’s record of 19 ATP World Tour Master’s 1000 titles. In the Men’s Doubles title the Spanish duo of Rafael Nadal and Marz Lopez defeated the American pair of John Isner and Sam Querrey 6-2, 7-6 in the finals.March 20, 2012






French Open: Sharapova conquers women’s singles title
Russian player Maria Sharapova wins her maiden French Open Women’s singles title. She defeated Italian
Sara Errani and thus became the 10th woman to complete a career Grand Slam. Sharapova also keeps
Wimbledon Crown in 2004, the US Open in 2006 and the Australian Open in 2008.

Open & Brazil Open: Sports Ministry
Sports Ministry approved the participation of Indian Tennis Team in the 2012 Euro Africa Circuit, Swedish Open and
Brazil Open tournament. It will be 13 member team that includes: Sharath Kamal, Achanta Kamail, Subhajit Saha, Sanil
Shankar Shetty, Mouma Das, Harmeet Rajul Desai, Divya Deshpandey and Monika Batra
 The Euro Africa Circuit and Swedish Open will be organized at Helsingborg, Sweden.
 Brazil Open will be held at Santos of Brazil.







Roger Federer and Li Na clinch Cincinnati Masters
Tennis star Roger Federer clinched a record fifth Western & Southern Open Title (Cincinnati Masters ) at Cincinnati. He
defeated Novak Djokovic.
In women’s singles China’s Li Na vanquished German Angelique Kerbar to bag the title.







Danish Caroline Wozniacki, the former world number one player won the Korean Open WTA Title on 23 September 2012. She defeated, the third seeded Estonian Kaia Kanepi in the finals by 6-1, 6-0.
The 22 years Old Danish national was placed at number 1 position at the start of the year but at present she ranks at 11th Position. She won her last title at Haven, in August 2011. With this win, she managed to increase the count of the WTA titles in her account to 19 the fourth highest among other players bagged the 19th WTA title in her account after Serena Williams (45), Venus Williams (43) and Maria Sharapova (27).

Leander Paes becomes first Indian to complete career Grand Slam
 Tennis star Leander Paes has created history by becoming the first Indian to complete a career Grand Slam by
winning the Australian Open men’s doubles title with Czech player Radek Stepanek. In the 2012 Australian Open,
they defeated the top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan of the US in straight sets in Melbourne.
 The latest feat is the 13th Grand Slam title for Paes with seven men’s doubles trophies and six mixed doubles
titles and is India ‘s most successful doubles player in majors. Paes won French Open thrice in 1999, 2001 and
2009, and Wimbledon in 1999 and US Open in 2006.



Qatar Open Championship: Rafael Nadal Crashes out
 Top-seeded Rafael Nadal has crashed out of the Qatar Open Championship.

 He loses to Gael Monfils from France in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.


Jo-Wilfried Tsonga wins Qatar Open Tennis Championship
 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga from France has won the Qatar Open Tennis Championship 2012.
 He defeated his his fellow countryman Gael Monfils 7-5, 6-3 in straight sets.
 It was Tsonga’s first title of the 2012 ATP Tour season and the eighth of his career.



Milos Raonic wins Chennai Open Singles Title
 Milos Raonic of Canada has won the Chennai Open Singles Title. He defeated Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia 6-7-7.





Novak Djokovic wins ATP World Tennis Championship World Number one, Novak Djokovic has won the ATP World Tennis Championship. In the final in Abu Dhabi,
Djokovic thrashed Spaniard David Ferrer in straight sets 6-2.6-1. World Number two Rafael Nadal came third as
he defeated Roger Federer 6-2,7-5. 

 US Open 2012
Serena Williams of USA clinched her fourth Women’s Singles US Open title in New York. The fourth seeded
Serena beat the top seeded Victoria Azarenka of Belarus. It was Serena’s 15th Grand Slam singles title.

The 1914 International Lawn Tennis Challenge was the 13th edition of what is now known as the Davis Cup. The bulk of the competition returned to the United States for the first time since 1903. The United States fell to Australasia in the final, which was played at the West Side Tennis Club in New York CityNew York on 13–15 August.
