Bhagat Singh Chowk: Is the new name of Shadman Chowk located in the Eastern City of Lahore (Pakistan)
The Shadman Chowk in the eastern city of Lahore (Pakistan) on 29 September 2012 was renamed as Bhagat Singh Chowk on the 105th birth anniversary of the revolutionary freedom fighter and martyr, Bhagat Singh. This came up in result of the demand from the peace activists for renaming the Chowk by the name of Bhagat Singh. Noorul Amin Mengal, the District Coordination Officer directed the City District Government to rename Shadman Chowk as Bhagat Singh Chowk.
It was Shadman Chowk roundabout, where Bhagat Singh along with his two companions Sukhdev Singh and Rajguru were hanged on 23 March 1931 in the then Lahore Jail for their alleged involvement in the Lahore Conspiracy Case. Till 1947, the Chowk was named after the name of Bhagat Singh, later it was renamed to be Shadman Chowk.
Bhagat Singh
Bhagat Singh born of 28 September 1907 and hanged on 23 March 1931, was one of the greatest martyrs of the Indian Freedom Struggle against the British Empire. He has been termed as the most influential revolutionists of his time in the Indian History. Referred to be a Saheed, Bhagat singh as a teenager studied the revolutionary movements of European Countries and was attracted towards the Marxists and Anarchist thoughts.

Pakistani scientist Dr. Khalil Chishti released from Ajmer Jail
Who is Dr. Khalil Chisti?
Dr. Khalil Chishti an octogenarian old virologist from Karanchi, Pakistan released from Ajmer central Jail
on bail. The Supreme Court has granted him bail.
In 1992, Khalil was imprisoned in a murder case. Khalil came to visit attend a marriage at the city of his
birth, Ajmer in 1992. But he got caught in a wrangle b/w two sets of relatives; one person was shot dead. Dr Chishti

Now, the Supreme Court has granted him bail and but Khalil’s passport will be seized during for the bail Period and he

Pakistan approves resolution for resetting country’s troubled ties
with US
Pakistan’s parliament has collectively sanctioned a resolution for readjusting the country’s disturbed ties with the US.
Pakistan’s Parliament has demanded the government to seek from US a civil nuclear deal akin to the one extended to
India. The resolution adopted by a joint sitting of the National Assembly and the Senate contended that the Indo-US
civil nuclear agreement had "significantly altered" the strategic balance in the region.
Amongst the 14 recommendations in the resolution adopted, one of them recommends that the dialogue process with
India should be extended in a meaningful and result-oriented fashion and efforts should be made to settle the Kashmir
issue in conformity with UN resolutions.

Terrorist attack Pakistan’s Kamra air base
Pakistan’s security structure was breached when terrorists belonging Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacked
Pakistan Air Force’s Minhas Base in Kamra (a two-hour drive from Islamabad). Although all the terrorists were killed in

Pakistan: Army coup fears loom large
Pakistan Government calls for an urgent session of Parliament in the wake of a warning from the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court has said that action could be taken against the President and the Prime Minister for failing to
reopen high-profile corruption cases.
At the same time, Pakistan Army warns Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani of grievous consequences for his
recent criticism of the military and the ISI.
In another move, the Pakistan Army brought in Brigadier Sarfaraz Ali as the new commander of a Rawalpindibased
army unit that has traditionally played a vital role in military coups.
Prime Minister Gilani sacked Defence Secretary Naeem Khalid Lodhi with immediate effect for gross misconduct
and illegal action. Cabinet Secretary Nargis Sethi was given additional charge of the post of Defence Secretary.
The Army officials have warned that the army will not cooperate with the new Defence Secretary.

Pakistan’s Parliament passes a pro-democracy Resolution
The Parliament of Pakistan has passed a pro-democracy resolution which gives a moral booster for the
beleaguered government that is haunted by the graft issues and the so called memogate controversy.
The resolution, introduced by a junior partner of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party, was passed by a two-thirds
majority in the 342-member National Assembly.
In the backdrop of government’s confrontation with the military and the judiciary over the memo scandal and
the reopening of high-profile graft cases, PPP’s coalition partners reposed full confidence in Pakistan Prime
Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and decided that he will appear in the Supreme Court to face the contempt notice.
