65th International Tablighi Ijtema begins in Bhopal
• The 65th annual Aalmi Tablighi Ijtema (International Islamic congregation) began in Bhopal on 25th
November in the presence of a number of Islamic scholars from India and abroad.
• The three-day congregation is the biggest in India and the fourth biggest after the Haj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabi and such assemblies in Bangladesh and Pakistan.
• Tablighi Jamaat (Society for spreading faith) is a religious movement which was founded in 1926 by
Muhammad Ilyas al-Kandhlawi in India. The movement primarily aims at Tablighi spiritual reformation
by working at the grass roots level, reaching out to Muslims across all social and economic spectra to
bring them closer to Islam. It came forth as an offshoot of the Deobandi movement.
• Tablighi Ijtema is the annual gathering of the followers of Tablighi Jamaat. The oldest ijtema of the World
started in Bhopal. It attracts people from all over World. Almost 2 million people gather for this annual
gathering.

In Madhya Pradesh, the year 2013 will be observed as Information Technology
Empowerment Year. All MoUs signed in the IT sector will be implemented during the
Year. Work will be undertaken for development of new IT parks in Bhopal and Indore.
Electronic manufacturing hubs will be established at Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and
Jabalpur. Rural women will be given IT training while maximum number of
government officers and employees will be made IT-savvy. Besides this an IT cadre
will be developed for making available skilled human resources from state to block
levels. Work will be done on a mission mode in mobile governance sector so that
good governance can be ensured at the lowest level







Madhya Pradesh Gau- Vansh Vadh Pratishedh (Sansodhan) Vidheyak(Madhya Pradesh prohibition of slaughter of cow-progeny (amendment) Bill was approved by the President on 22 December 2011. Under the amendment act, the onus would be on the accused to prove prosecution wrong if found guilty in a cow slaughter case.

 The guilty person would be liable for 7 years imprisonment, instead of the present 3 years. He will also have to pay a minimum fine of 5000 rupees.

The MP state government had passed the amendment Bill in 2010 in the assembly to boost the existing cow slaughter prohibition Act (Madhya Pradesh Gauvansh Pratishedh Adhiniyam 2004). The bill was forwarded to the Union Home Ministry on 3 September 2010. The bill received the Presidential assent following the approval of Indian Parliament.










Disposal of Bhopal toxic waste approved
The government sanctioned removal of about 350 metric tonnes of Union Carbide toxic waste in Bhopal. The sanction
was given subsequent to commendations from a Group of Ministers (GoM) on the Bhopal Gas
tragedy chaired by Home Minister P C Chidambaram.
As per the proposal, the Central Govt will pay Rs 25 crore towards the cost of airlifting the
waste, to be carried out by German agency-GIZ IS. The waste is projected to be moved out within a year.
Approximately 346 mt toxic waste is lying within the site of the former M/s Union Carbide India Ltd (UCIL) at Bhopal.
The worst-ever industrial disaster had taken place at the Union Carbide plant on the intervening night of December 2-
3, 1984.

‘Calamity Emergency Force’ to be constituted in Madhya Pradesh
In order to tackle all kinds of calamities, State Calamity Emergency Force to be constituted in every district of the
Madhya Pradesh by the Calamity Management Authority,MP. The State Calamity Emergency Force to comprise of 50-
100 jawans in each district. The force jawans will be recruited on the lines of the Home Guard jawans and will be used
for relief and rescue works in event of any kind of disaster.




MP Govt increases aid given under the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojna
Madhya Pradesh Govt increases aid given under the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojna from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000.
Under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojna financial assistance is made available for the marriage of girls
and widows of poor and needy families.
Since its launch on April 2006, Marriages of more than 1,83,000 girls have been solemnized so far
under the scheme. Now, marriages of Muslim girls are also being solemnized under the same
scheme.










Madhya Pradesh: Government abolishes Sugar Licensing and Control Order
MP Government has abolished the Sugar Licensing and Control Order in the state. MP Govt also made it clear in its
notification that abolition of the Control order will not affect any action or decision taken on it under the order in the
past.
The step comes as a result of the Centre not extending the validity period of the order pertaining to control over sugar.
Via its notification issued in July 2009, the Central Govt had asked the State Govt of Madhya Pradesh to implement a
Licensing System for limiting the stocks of wholesale sugar traders following which the Madhya Pradesh Sugar Traders
Licensing and Control Order 2009 was applied.
Since November 30, 2011, the Central Govt did not extend the validity period of this order and thus the Control and
Licensing System was abolished.





Rs 1,900 Crore for Panch Parmeshwar Yojana
Rs 1,900 crore have been sanction in Madhya Pradesh for the “Panch Parmeshwar Yojana” in
2012-13. This means an increase of Rs 500 Crore in comparison to current fiscal.
Under the scheme, gram panchayats are being provided Rs 2-15 lakh on the basis of
population.
District and village panchayats will be respectively allocated Rs 50 lakh and Rs 25 lakh
annually separately for expenditure.






NARMADA

A group of researchers in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh has
claimed to have found traces of a paleo-river.  1.A paleo-channel or paleo-river is an inactive river or water stream
buried under sediment. 2.The current course of river Narmada is about 10 km from
the site of the paleo-river, parallel to it. 3.Further exploration may throw light on the
origin of the Narmada
