The President of Mali, Amadou Toumani Toure visited India on 11-12 January 2012. India and Mali signed three agreements during this visit. The agreements are as following;
1.MoU on Co-operation in the field of Geology and Mineral Resources between the Ministry of Mines of the Government of India and Ministry of Mines of the Government of the Republic of Mali.
2. Joint statement by India and Mali on the occasion of the visit of the President of Mali.
3. India also extended Line of Credit of 100 million US dollars for a power transmission project.

Highlights of the Joint statement issued by India and Mali are as following:
• Both sides called for an early convening of the first meeting of the Joint Ministerial Commission following the signing of the Agreement on Political, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation between India and Mali in October 2009.
• The Indian side thanked Mali for its support to India’s candidature for permanent membership in an expanded United Nations Security Council.
• On the situation in the Middle East, the two sides condemned any forms of violence and urged the protagonists to resume dialogue and reiterated their support for the “Road Map” of the Quartet.
• The two sides strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and resolved to increase cooperation in the common efforts of the international community in preventing this scourge in a comprehensive manner. Both sides agreed to closely cooperate for an early finalisation of a Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism, for which India had presented a draft at the United Nations in 1996.

India for restoration of Constitutional Government in Mali
A return of Constitutional rule in West African State of Mali called for by India. In Mali the democratically
elected President Amadou Toumani Toure was ousted this week in an army coup. India while expressing
its great concern over the developments in Mali held that the democratic process suspended there
should immediately be restored. India has welcomed the statements by the UNSC, the African Union and the
Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) on the developments in Mali.
Ministry of External Affairs is in touch with the Embassy of India in Bamako and the small Indian community in Mali is
safe. It has been suggested to the Indian community to exercise caution and remain in contact with the Indian
Embassy.
India to Provide 100 Million USD Credit to Mali
Malian President Amadou Toumani Toure is in New Delhi for a state visit. An agreement was signed between
India and Mali via which India will provide 100 million US dollar line of credit to Mali for Power Transmission
projects.
India and Mali also sign pact on cooperation in the field geology and mineral resources to intensify cooperation in
this area.
India has chosen Mali among the nine countries for economic and infrastructure development cooperation.
