$400 Million Loan to MP by the Asian Development Bank
ADB (Asian Development Bank) to provide a $400 million loan to Madhya Pradesh
To support rural development and establishment of business and employment opportunities in the
state To provide 24-hour electricity to rural households
To generate better Educational Opportunities for the state's poor
To ascertain inclusive growth and development in rural areas
ADB to provide $200 million to the state in the first stage and besides this it will also provide
Technical assistance of $1 Million for the Training of poor Women in target districts as

India’s economic growth rate expected to be 7 % during current fiscal
(2012-13): ADB
As per Asian Development Bank, India’s economic growth rate is expected to 7% during 2012-13. ADB in its outlook for
the current fiscal held that this is mainly due to the impact of continuing global economic crisis. Indian economy will
only register a moderate increase in growth rate in the current fiscal, up from 6.9% a year ago.
India inks 3 pacts with ADB
ADB (Asian Development Bank) and India inked 3 loan agreements worth $826 million.
Objective: To prop up India’s power transmission systems for efficient transfer of electricity from surplus
regions to deficit regions.
$500-million sovereign-guaranteed loan along with a $250-million non-sovereign corporate loan will
assist establish a more than 1,300-kilometre inter-regional transmission link to allow bulk transfer of electricity from
independent power producers in Chhattisgarh to high power demand areas in the north, including the NCR-Delhi. Also
an agreement for a $76 million sovereign loan to connect the western power grid to the UTs of Daman & Diu and
Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

This is a pioneering initiative to club a non-sovereign loan of $250 million with a sovereign loan of $500 million in one
financing package.
