Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia conferred annual "Bhim Awards" on
outstanding sports persons of the state. Appreciating the sports policy of the state
he said that till now 137 sportpersons have been honoured with Bhim Award. Those
who received the "Award" presently include Boxer from Bhiwani jeetender kumar,
wrestler from Karnal Nirmala Devi, athletic player shotputter from Gurgaon Om

Allahabad HC bans reporting on troop movement
The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court has directed the Centre and Uttar Pradesh government
to ensure that there is no reporting on movement of troops by print or electronic media. The bench
held that the issue of movement of army troops is not a matter which should need public discussion
at the cost of defence secrecy and the security of the nation.











Chief Minister of Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda on 2 October 2012 flagged off the first trial run of Rapid Metro in Gurgaon. On this day, he also laid down the foundation stone of the seven kilometers long phase-II metro project.
The rapid metro in its first phase was tested between two stations DLF Phase II and Phase III U Block. It is a Rs 1,088 Crore project and is expected to be completed by March 2013.

Haryana to have India’s first Electronic Toll plaza
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) rolled out the India’s first Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system in
Haryana, substituting the existing cash payment
method. The Radio Frequency Identification
(RFID) technology-based toll collection plaza at
Chandimandir near Punchkula in Haryana on Delhi-
Chandigarh highway inaugurated on pilot basis, which
will be replicated pan-India.
How these RFID Technology based ETCs will be useful?
The RFID technology based ETCs will help users to make
payment without stopping at toll plazas and will thus
reduce traffic congestion and commuting time.
How this technology works?
Using the passive RFID technology, the ETC consists of 2 components:
1) The Tag
2) The Reader

‘Orbit Railway network planned in Haryana
‘Orbit Railway’ being planned by the Haryana government around the three of the Delhi in NCR Region of Haryana. The

New awards for safe motherhood in Haryana: “Surakshit Maa” and
“Swastha Maa”
In order to promote institutional deliveries and create awareness and “responsibility towards health”
in pregnant women, the Haryana Government is introducing two awards from the next financial year:-
“Surakshit Maa”:- Under this scheme, women who report for ante-natal registration in the first
trimester would become eligible to be registered for a lottery draw every month in the sub-centre. 3
women would be selected for a prize of Rs.300 and they would be given utility items like utensils, containers or food
items like 1 kilogram of desi ghee.
“Swasth Maa”:- Under this scheme, ante-natal women would be screened during 9 months (36 weeks of pregnancy)
for fulfilling certain criteria. There would be a bumper draw every month at the concerned Primary Health Centre.
Rs.81.50 lakh had been set aside for execution of the 2 schemes during 2012-13 in 4 districts — Mewat, Palwal, Jhajjar
and Bhiwani. Currently there are 84 sub-centres in Mewat district, 88 in Palwal, 122 in Jhajjar and 214 in Bhiwani

Haryana changes Makan Anudaan Yojna’s name to ‘Baba Saheb
Ambedkar Makaan Yojna’
On the occasion of 121st birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the Haryana Govt changed the name
of ‘Makan Anudaan Yojna’ to ‘Baba Saheb Ambedkar Makaan Yojna’.
Under this scheme 50,000 rupees have been given to the Scheduled Castes and liberated and Tapriwas tribes.















Haryana government on 18 September 2012 instituted four state-level awards to felicitate women who have done outstanding work in different fields. Three of the awards include Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti Award, Kalpna Chawla Shaurya Award and Bahin Shano Devi Panchayti Raj Award. The fourth award comprises of two awards,Life time Achievers Award and Women Outstanding Achievers Award. These awards would come into effect from the current financial year 2012-13.

Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti Award, would be given to the women who has done exemplary work in rehabilitation of destitute women and children, widows, victims of atrocities and conflict disabled women and children, aged women.

It would also be given to those engaged in promoting self help groups or women empowerment initiatives, established their own business or industry and have contributed to development of women besides entrepreneurship and done exemplary work in public service. It would carry a cash prize of Rs one lakh and a citation.

Kalpna Chawla Shaurya Award named after astronaut Kalpna Chawla, would be given to those who perform acts of bravery and meritorious services. The award would carry a cash prize of 51000 rupees and a citation.

Bahin Shanno Devi Panchayati Raj Award named after the first women Speaker in Haryana had been instituted for encouraging the emergence of women in the public sphere in the village of Haryana. This award would be given to woman Panchayat leader who have done exemplary work in promoting female literacy, health and nutrition, universalisation of education, sanitation, water, hygiene and other health determinants, he said. It would carry cash prize of 51000 rupees and a citation.

Life Time Achievement Award would given to woman of 60 years of age or above, who has excelled in administrative skills, career or profession, leadership quality, courage and creative work. It would carry a cash prize of Rs 21,000 and a citation and a shawl, he said.

Women Outstanding Achievers Award would be given to the women who have done exemplary achievements and outstanding work in their respective fields. The awards will be presented annually to such women who have done commendable work in their respective fields. It would be given to nurses, sports women, Sakshar Mahila Sammoh Members, Government employees, social workers, Women entrepreneurs, nominees of Stree Shakti Puraskar, Prohibition-cum-Protection Officer and Anganwadi workers. Each such award carries cash prize of Rs 5,100, a citation and a shawl.
