International Newspaper Colour Quality Club Membership awarded to the Hindu’s Press



The Hindu in third week of November 2012 was awarded with the Membership of the International Newspaper Colour Quality Club (INCQC) - popular global recognition of print quality of the year 2012 to 2014. The recognition was given to Hindu for its performance standards in the printing facility available at Coimbatore of Kasturi & Sons limited, the owner company of Hindu.

A total of 192 newspaper participated in the 10th INCQC in four different categories among which the Hindu’s nomination was in the first category for coldest offset printing, in which it was successful in compiling and standing with the stringent standards mentioned to pass the test. The award was announced during the World Publishing Expo 2012 held at Frankfurt, Germany from 29 October to 31 October 2012  by the WAN-IFRA -- World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers.

The facilities at the Coimbatore center of the Hindu Printing Press are fitted with high speed, double-width press.

About the Award


The Program of awarding the newspapers for the print quality after examining the same on scientific standards systematically was started by IFRA in the year 1994. The points for selection for the nominated newspapers in the category is done after examining the aesthetic values and parameters followed while printing. Newspapers that maintain consistency on all the defined standards are chosen and declared members of the exclusive Colour Quality Club.

The initiative of IFRA helps in ensuring the fact that the readers of newspaper may get a high quality product with attractive print standards. For selection of the newspaper, the experts at Germany evaluated the quality of the newspaper and its visual impact on the base standard fixed by IFRA and that is ISO 12647-3. The set standard describes the quality of the processes and materials used in printing.












Rojgar Samachar – now available online in Hindi

The Employment News Weekly Newspaper (a unit of the Directorate of Publications Division, Ministry of Information
and Broadcasting) launched its Hindi website ‘Rojgar Samachar’ to cater the needs of job seekers from Hindi speaking
areas of the country. Employment News now has two websites, one in English and now one in Hindi. The website in
English was launched in 2006 is very popular clocking a daily hit of over four lakh page hits. Under its segment ‘Career
ek nazar’, the Hindi website will host detailed information on variety of careers available in the market.








IB Ministry declares Citizen Charter
 The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting declares a Citizen Charter.
 Under the citizen charter, the ministry will deliver services to people within a specified time-frame.
 As per the Charter, for granting permission to TV Channels for uplinking or downlinking, the ministry will forward
the applications within two months after receiving them in completed form to the Ministries and Departments
concerned for clearances.
 As per the citizen charter, to issue permission for uplinking or downlinking of TV channels from India, the
application is examined by the Department of Space, Ministry of Home Affairs and other departments.
 The Citizen Charter lays down a time-frame of four months for delivering on such applications once such
formalities are over.






T.R. Ramachandran re-elected Press Club of India president
 The Press Club of India announced that veteran journalist T.R. Ramachandran of G-Files has been re-elected
president and Anil Anand of Greater Kashmir is the new secretary general.
