Discovery Communication launched kids Channel in State of Andhra Pradesh



Discovery Communications on 1 November 2012 officially launched its kid channel, Discovery Kids in Andhra Pradesh which targets kids below the age of 11 years.

The channel was rolled out in three languages English, Hindi and Tamil in the month of October and is counted as the eighth channel in India, which is being run by Discover Communication.

Discovery is considered among the 10 most-viewed channels in India which have around 140 million viewers every year.

Also,Kids genre is considered third in terms of TV viewership, after entertainment and movies. If we take it in terms of advertisement revenue, this genre had a market of 300-400 crore rupees after the entertainment and movies genres.

The content designed by Discovery came after a thorough research and are kids friendly and rooted with learning as earlier it was revealed that a majority of parents did not approve of what their kids were watching.

The channel is going to include animation serials such as Kim which is adapted from Rudyard Kipling’s novel, Sally Bollywood, featuring the adventures of an intelligent girl detective and Howzzatt which is based on galli cricket.

Punjabi film Anhey Ghorhey Da Daan (Alms of the Blind Horse) on Friday bagged the Golden Peacock award for the best film at the 43rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa. This is the first Punjabi film to win the prestigious IFFI award. The movie, released last 

year, is directed by Delhi based Gurvinder Singh, a student of late film-maker Mani Kaul. It is based on a 1976 Punjabi novel of the same name by Jnanpith award winner Punjabi writer Gurdial Singh.
The award carries a certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 40 lakh, which is shared equally between the director and the producer. The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) has produced the film.
Reacting to the news, the film's Chandigarh based lead actor Samuel John said, "It is a proud
moment for Punjab as well as Punjabi cinema. This award holds testimony to the fact that Anhey Ghorhey Da Daan is a milestone and a major breakthrough in contemporary Indian cinema."
The Punjabi film was chosen as the best among 15 films from across the world.
"Gurvinder Singh is a genius. With his maiden film, he has taken Punjabi cinema to the international level and has made us all proud. I am sure his next two films, which are in the pipeline, will prove to be equally significant," said London-based poet Amarjit Chandan.
The film, which tells the woeful tale of a small farmer in Bathinda district, earlier won national awards for best direction, cinematography and best feature film at the 59th National Film Awards of India. A large number of actors in the film are common villagers.
The union ministry of information and broadcasting and the Goa government jointly conduct the festival every year. The 43rd edition of IFFI was held at Panaji from November 20 to 30.
Founded in 1952, IFFI is among the most significant film festivals in Asia.

Global James Bond Day was celebrated on 5 October 2012 to mark 50 years since the world premiere of Dr. No which introduced author Ian Fleming's sophisticated secret agent to the people.
The franchise went on to produce best selling Agent 007 films. It is making legends out of actors over the last 50 years and the James Bond movie franchise have made heart-stopping thrillers.



"Innocence of Muslims"  is the title attributed to an anti-Islamic video ( in middle east) reported to have been written and produced by Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, using the pseudonym of "Sam Bacile". While he initially denied being the controversial figure, records uncovered by the Associated Press and confirmed by American federal authorities established Nakoula as the same person as Sam Bacile. Nakoula claimed that he was creating an epic, two hour film, however no such film has been located. The 14 minute video clips were initially uploaded to YouTube in July 2012, under the titles The Real Life of Muhammad and Muhammad Movie Trailer. Videos dubbed in the Arabic language were uploaded during early September 2012,







“Pather Panchali” in the list of 50 best films
Bengali film Pather Panchali has been included again in the list of 50
greatest films of all time. The voting was conducted by the British Film
Institute’s reputed magazine Sight & Sound.
In 1956 the film won the Best Human Documentry Prize at the Cannes
Film Festival.
