IN 2001, GERMANY APROVED 32 MILION DOLLAR CREDIT FOR INDIA..FOR OCEANOGRAPIC RESEARCH
An accord under the umbrella of Indo-German bilateral development cooperation programme inked
b/w REC (Rural Electrification Corporation) and KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau – German
government-owned development bank, based in Frankfurt) for a loan of euro 100.1 million, together
with a grant component of Euro 0.5 million, for financing ‘Clean energy for rural development’ projects.
Objective: The loan component is support such projects in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency which
contribute to rural development.
