Kaushik Basu concludes as the CEA
The working period of Kaushik Basu as India’s Chief Economic Advisor concluded on 31 July 2012. He served
to the office for two and a half years at the North-Block, New Delhi. He was conferred on with the Padma
Bhushan in 2008.


Raghuram Rajan to be new CEA
 Raghuram Rajan will take the place of Kaushik basu as the Chief Economic Adviser.
 The selection was made by Prime Minister’s Economic advisory council headed by C.Rangarajan.
 Mr. Rajan has been former Chief Economist of International Monetary Fund.
 Currently Rajan is the Eric J Gleacher Distinguished Service Professor of Finance at the University of
Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
