Bangalore to host first ever T-20 World Cup for blind
• The world’s best visually challenged cricketers have gathered in Bangalore to play the first ever T-20
World Cup for the blind.
• All the three previous World Cups for the blind were of 40 overs.
• Pakistan, West Indies, England, Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and host team India
will play for honours in the championship.

Pepsi replaces DLF by winning 5 years sponsorship of the IPL

Pepsi won the five-year title sponsorship of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It replaced earlier sponsor DLF by paying Rs 396.8 crore ($71.93 million) which is almost double the amount DLF paid.

Cricketer Vernon Philander Named South-African Sportsman of the Year 2012




South African fast bowler Vernon Philander on 4 November 2012 at the South African Sports Awards ceremony in Sandton named Sportsman of the year beating two Olympic gold medallists for the award.

The top title of Sports Star of the Year went to Olympic gold-medallist swimmer Chad Le Clos who had won gold in the men's 200m butterfly at the London Olympic Games 2012.

27 Years old Vernon Philander made huge public impact since his Test debut in 2011 and he is now ranked the number two bowler in the world only behind his fellow teammate Dale Steyn.

Earlier in 2011, Hashim Amla had won the award and was nominated again this year.

Vernon Philander is the fastest player to take 50 Test match wickets in more than 100 years of cricket history and the phenomenal thing is that he has done  it in his debut year of Test match cricket.

He was named Man of the Match in South Africa's Test victory at Lord's this year in 2012when the Proteas claimed the No.1 ranking in Test match cricket.











Mahendra Singh Dhoni Renamed his Super Bike Team and Signed Two New Members






Indian cricket team Captain M.S. Dhoni’s Superbike championship team on 7 November 2012 changed its name from MSD R-N Racing Team India to Mahi Racing Team India and had signed two new members.

The two new members that had been signed up are world champion Kenan Sofouglu and former world champion Fabien Foret
Sofouglu is a driver from turkey and had won the championship three times in 2007, 2010 and the recently-concluded season with the Kawaski team after the Portuguese Grand Prix.

While, Fabien Foret is a driver from France and is a 2002 World champion. At the end of 2008, he had 24 podium finishes under his name which includes 11 wins and 12 pole positions.

The riders are going to test the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R machines during the official winter testing season. Earlier named MSD R-N Racing Team India, the Indian skipper’s team competed in the 600cc class in 2012, becoming India’s first FIM world superbike championship team.

The Budh International Circuit is hosting the superbike world championship event in March 2013, leading to a rush in interest for India’s first bike racing team, involving Dhoni, who had passion for speed and bike.

About Superbike Race
The Superbike race first started in year 1970 when super bike race is held in many countries mainly in USA and Australia. At that time the races were of large capacity bike of up to 1100cc and were strictly limited to four stroke machines. But soon the grand prix bikes arrived in the states which were accompanied and later replaced by 700 and 750 two stroke, three or four cylinder machines.

BCCI will honor Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli with Polly Umrigar Award at its Annual Awards ceremony to be held on November 21, 2013 in Mumbai.
Sachin will be honored for his 100th century while Virat will awarded for being India’s top international cricketer of 2011-12.
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar will be receiving the prestigious Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award.

Anuraag Thakur a BJP MP from Hamirpur and Joint Secretary of Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) on 16 September 2012 was appointed as a member of Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC’s) executive board.
Thakur has served the National Cricket Academy as its vice-chairman and a member with National Junior Selection Committee. ACC is a 25 member committee with its head quarters in Kuala Lumpur. The committee is engaged in development and promotion of the cricketers in Asian region.








Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack expresses fears about future of
international cricket
‘Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack’ (Wisden) expressed severe fears in its latest edition about the future of
international cricket. It also criticised India for the slow death of Test matches.
In its 149th edition, Lawrence Booth, the youngest editor of Wisden at 37, has held that international
cricket "stands at a precipice" due to the ever-growing popularity of the Twenty20 format of Cricket. He
held that held the Indian officials (BCCI) and the lucrative IPL (Indian Premier League) are responsible for
the current state of International Test cricket.
As per him the disintegration of India’s celebrated batting lineup has co-occurred with the rise of a Twenty20-based
nationalism, the growth of private marketeers and high level conflicts of interest.

Star Group wins Indian cricket’s broadcast rights
The Star Group bagged the broadcast and digital rights of India’s international cricket matches at
home for a period of six years after bidding a whopping 3851 crore rupees 96 matches. The Star
Group beat bagged rights for all international matches at home events like Ranji Trophy, Duleep
Trophy and the Irani Trophy (but NOT IPL) starting from July 2012 till March 2018. STAR Group will
pay Rs. 40 crore on an average for each match.

Sachin completes Century of Centuries : 100/100
Sachin Tendulkar wrote History by scoring a brilliant century to become the first Crickter to ever score
100 international centuries. Tendulkar reached the milestone against Bangladesh in Asia Cup Cricket
tournament being held at Dhaka. This was his 49th century in one day cricket. Tendulkar is the only
person in the history of cricket to complete a century of centuries. He was also the first batsman to score a doublehundred
in ODIs.










The Indian women's cricket team won inaugural Asian Cricket Council's (ACC) Twenty20 Asia Cup, beating Pakistan  in Guangzhou city of People’s Republic of China.

Harmanpreet Kaur, was stand-in captain in place of Mithali Raj. The captain of Indian women cricket team Mithali Raj and senior player Jhulan Goswami were not playing the final match due to ankle injury.






Indian Cricketer Virat Kohli was chosen for the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Polly Umrigar award for being India's top international cricketer in 2011-12.

With this Virat Kohli is going to be honoured with a trophy and cheque of 5 lakh Rupees at the Annual BCCI Awards Ceremony in Mumbai on 21 November 2012.

The other previous winners of this prestigious award are Sachin Tendulkar in year 2006-07 and 2009-10, Virender Sehwag in year 2007-08, with Gautam Gambhir and Rahul Dravid in year 2008-09 and 2010-11 respectively.

The award Polly Umrigar is under the name of  late Indian cricketer Polly Umrigar (28 March 1926 – 7 November 2006)  who had played first-class cricket for Bombay, and Test cricket in the Indian cricket team, as a middle-order batsman and had  captained the Indian team in eight Test matches from 1955 to 1958.

West Bengal lifts Vijay Hazare Cricket Trophy 2012
West Bengal lifted the Vijay Hazare Cricket Trophy (also known as the Ranji One Day Trophy) 2012. In the final they
beat Mumbai by 6 wickets at the Feroz Shah Kotla-Delhi.
For Bengal, it was their maiden title win in the tournament and it was also Ganguly’s maiden national title as
Bengal captain having made his first-class debut way back in 1990.
Vijay Hazare Trophy was started in 2002-03 as a limited-over domestic competition involving state teams
from the Ranji Trophy plates.
It is named after the famous Indian cricketer Vijay Hazare. Tamil Nadu have won the trophy maximum (4) times.

Mohammad Azharuddin’s life ban lifted by Andhra Pradesh High Court

Former India skipper Mohammad Azharuddin’s life ban imagelifted by a Andhra Pradesh High Court. The High Court  struck off the lower court’s order which justified the life ban on Azharuddin in 2000 by BCCI. In 2000, the BCCI conducted an internal inquiry following the publication of the CBI report then and K. Madhavan who led the inquiry concluded that Azharuddin was guilty of match-fixing and the three others had links with bookmakers.

South Africa will host the 4th edition of the Champions League
Twenty20 to be held in October, 2012 with Pakistan’s Sialkot
Stallions being the new entrant.
The tournament has been shifted out of India due to the
Monsoon and the Durga Pooja celebrations will coincide with
the event.
The Mumbai Indians would participate as the 4th Indian team in the 8-team
tournament.
Pakistan’s Sialkot Stallions has been approved as the new entrant in the
tournament. They will participate in the qualifiers to make the cut in the main draw,
which will feature 4 teams from India, 2 from Australia and 1 from South Africa.
The confirmed participants of CL T2o are Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super
Kings and Delhi Daredevils
