Van Rompuy’ again elected as European Council President
The mandate of European Council’s current President Van Rompuy has been increased by another 2.5 years.
This was decided at a meeting of the Leaders of EU in Brussels. The former Belgian Prime Minister was the
only candidate for the post.

The World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) is a coalition of national Green Building Councils. With member organisations in over 80 countries, it is the largest international organisation influencing the green building marketplace.The WorldGBC was founded at a meeting of representatives from eight national GBCs in November 1999 in California. The countries represented wereAustralia, Canada, Japan, Spain, Russia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States. This meeting predated the creation of Green Buildings Councils in most of the countries in attendance.

The WorldGBC was formally incorporated in 2002, and a secretariat was established in 2007, based in Toronto, Canada.Each year the WGBC promotes World Green Building Week, during which member organisations deliver special events promoting public awareness of sustainability (World Green Building Week 2011 took place 19–23 September)

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), co-founded by Mike Italiano, David Gottfried and Rick Fedrizzi in 1993, is a non-profit trade organization that promotes sustainability in how buildings are designed, built, and operated. USGBC is best known for the development of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating systems and Greenbuild.

USGBC was one of eight national councils which helped found the World Green Building Council in 1999.USGBC established benchmarks for the LEED Green Building Rating System in 2000

National advisory council

The government reconstituted the National Advisory Council (NAC) headed by Mrs.Sonia Gandhi.It inducted Mihir Shah, Member, Planning Commission, and Ashish Mondal, founder of the Bhopal-based NGO, Action for Social Advancement.
