Centre plans to set up 1500 ITIs through PPP mode
• Aiming to achieve the target of skilling 100 million people by 2022, the Government plans to establish
1,500 industrial training institutes and 5,000 skill development centres through the public-private
partnership mode in the next 5 years.
Text messaging turns 20
• On December 3rd the “Text messaging” turned 20. The first SMS was sent on 3rd December 1992 as the
Christmas greeting.
• Neil Papworth, a Software Programmer, sent the first message to his friend Richard Jarvis. Over the years
text messaging has undergone significant changes to include text poetry, text adverts and text prayers.
